You either just got engaged, married, or maybe even divorced. Maybe you have reached a fitness goal, or hit a milestone at work. Maybe you are trying to figure out your situationship. Or Maybe YOU just entered motherhood or maybe even struggling through infertility. Whatever the reason maybe you are craving a transformational experience to either celebrate the moment or get your head out of the moment. This is super NATURAL and YOUR REASON is the perfect reason to have a day THAT IS ALL ABOUT YOU.

  1. Choose a boudoir photographer you trust.

This is so beyond important, maybe the absolute most important. Boudoir photography is such an intimate form of art that you want someone who is safe, and comfortable. Do your research, read google reviews. If you can’t find reviews, or relatable content from the photographer. Stay away. I also highly suggest using a photographer that specializes in boudoir. Why? because that photographer has studied and perfected their craft. every pose, lighting, shape, size ext and They are experienced solely in boudoir. Having a professional that is caring relatable and knows what they are doing, will calm your nerves the moment you book.

2. Ask if hair and makeup is included in your luxury experience.

Professional hair and makeup is a must to be able to truly enjoy your luxury boudoir experience. This is a time for you to talk with your photographer, get comfortable with the artist and have fun! Not only that, you can make a date night after your leave the studio because you will be feeling like your best self.

pro tip : Ask if your makeup artist can accommodate all skin types. Be honest with your makeup artist about what you want and even save inspo pictures. communication is key.

You could also combine a bridal trial the day of your boudoir session. After all, you may need a little fib to tell your partner if it’s a surprise. “Oh yeah babe, i was just getting a bridal trial done this morning.” … Aka a spicy one ;)

3. Ask if a client closet is provided

Having access to a client closet can feel like a relief and also super exciting. Typically the photographer will have pieces that you may have never thought about trying on your own body. Or even luxury pieces you may not buy for yourself because it typically comes right off…Your boudoir session is for you to have fun, so try things on! Feel like the little girl you used to be playing dress up, live a little! Explore different colors, shapes and get out of your comfort zone! Make sure to ask what sizes the client closet offers to make sure your size is available, and think about if you want to be photographed nude or implied nude.

4.Does the photographer have a private studio?

Sometimes photographers rent airbnb’s hotels, or shoot outside. All locations can be absolutely beautiful, Ask if you are responsible for covering the cost of the place or if they have a private studio that is included. Look on their website, instagram, tik tok to see if the vibe fits what you are looking for. This will also help with your lingerie choices if you are bringing your own.

5. Does the photographer guide you through posing and have a portfolio of different body shapes, sizes and colors?

This is really important. Knowing if the photographer can pose your body style, shape and photograph your skin color. How do you want to be portrayed in your photos? Does the photographer have women of similarity to you in their portfolio? Are they comfortable photographing curves? Or no slim figures? If you do not see your body style that’s ok, sometimes boudoir photographers are not allowed to show off all their clients. However it’s ok to ask if they have any images available that you can view so you feel comfortable knowing they have photographed someone similar.

Also ask if the photographer photoshops you at all. Depending on what you are wanting you may want something photoshopped out or not want to be photoshopped at all.

6.When and how will I get my photos?

Knowing the timeline of when you can see and get your photos maybe important because you need them at a certain time. Ask your photographer their turn around time, Do they pick your photos or do you get to pick your photos? Some photographers shoot photos and burn everything on a usb and call it a day. Typically professional boudoir photographers do same day reveals, letting you choose the photos you love and communicate how you want to display them only hours after your session.

7. Does the photographer create and order my product?

Albums, metals, crystals, folios, prints. There are so many ways to display your beautiful boudoir images. Ask your photographer if they have options and will order your product themselves. Communicate what you are looking for, what will make you feel good when it comes to your image display? Will they go in a getting ready room? a bathroom? your room? a closet? These are all things to consider when ordering your product.

8.Do I want my pictures private or public?

If you want your photos private I highly suggest asking the photographer to sign a contract that you do not want your photos to be seen. If you want them public, ask where the photos will be posted so that you are both on the same page. Some photographers have all women facebooks and instagrams. they show the images off in this group, however it is a private all women’s group. Typically monitored and controlled by the photographer themself.

If you are wondering why your photographer would want to show off your photos, here is why. Boudoir photographers create beautiful art and are typically dying to show it off. however this industry is so hard to show off our work because it’s typically private. Showing your photos may just encourage someone else just like you to have the confidence to book, all because they can relate to how you look!

If you choose not to post to all girls group or publicly you can always show your love by leaving a review or showing your product to your besties!
